VIT ENGINEERING ENTRANCE EXAMINATION (VITEEE - 2009)

Eligibility

You should have ateast 60% marks in PCM or in PCB to be eligible for admission in VIT. Candidates whose date of birth falls on or after 1st July 1987 are eligible to apply for VITEEE-2009. The date of birth as recorded in the High School / SSC / Xth Certificate will be considered authentic. Candidates should produce this certificate in original as a proof of their age, at the time of counselling, failing which they will be disqualified.

Application forms

You can either get the forms from the post offices.To locate the post office in your area visit this page- http://vit.ac.in/admissions/viteee_plist.asp

Candidates can also obtain the application form through post by sending a Demand Draft for Rs.750/–drawn in favour of “VIT University”, payable at Vellore, with a covering letter addressed to “Admissions Officer”, VIT University, Vellore–632014, requesting for the application form and indicating their complete postal address. On receipt of the DD, the application form with the enclosures will be sent by post. The postal charges will be borne by the Institute. Candidates should write their name and address on the reverse of the DD.

Important points for filling the form

Before posting the application please ensure that

  • You have read the instructions carefully.
  • You have used a black ball-point pen to enter the codes in the boxes and pencil to shade the alphabet / numeral / circle as indicated.
  • You have affixed a good quality recent, colour photograph in the space provided.
  • You have pasted a photograph without attestation..
  • You have clearly and legibly written your complete postal address to which the communication is to be sent.
  • You have entered your correct PINCODE.
  • You have indicated your correct STD code and Phone No. / Mobile No.
  • You have mentioned your correct e-mail address.
  • You have signed in the space provided below the photograph and in the declaration form.
  • Your parent / guardian has signed the declaration form.
  • You have had your application attested in the space provided.
  • You have not used any pins or stapler in your application.
  • You have clearly indicated whether you require hostel accommodation or not.
  • You have entered the correct Test City Code on the envelope provided.
  • You have retained a photocopy of your application.

 

The result for VITEE 2009 would be declared on May 9,2009.

BITSAT 2009

BITS Pilani is the top private institute in India.BITSAT 2009 is held for admission in BITS Pilani,which has campuses in three locations Pilani,Goa and Hyderabad

Eligibility Criteria

For admission in BITS in Integrated First Degree programmes Candidates should have passed the 12th examination of 10+2 system from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Further the candidate should have obtained a minimum of aggregate 80% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects in 12th examination, with at least 60% marks in each of the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects and should have adequate proficiency in English.

Students who are appearing for 12th examination in 2009 or who have passed 12th Examination in 2008 only are eligible to appear in the BITSAT-2009 test. Students who have passed 12th examination in 2007 or earlier are NOT eligible to appear in BITSAT-2009. Students who are presently studying in BITS at any of its campuses are not eligible to appear in BITSAT-2009

If you have topped in your Board exam then you would be given a direct admission in BITS

BITSAT-2009 Test Format:

As usual the BITSAT-2009 will be of total 3-hour duration (without break). The test consists of four parts:
Part I : Physics
Part II : Chemistry
Part III : (a) English Proficiency and (b) Logical Reasoning
Part IV : Mathematics
All questions are of objective type (MCQ’s); each question with choice of four answers, only one being correct choice. Each correct answer fetches 3 marks, while each incorrect answer has a penalty of 1 mark. No marks are awarded for not attempted questions. There will be 150 questions in all. The number of questions in each part is as follows:

Physics  40
Chemistry 40
English Proficiency 15
Logical Reasoning 10
Mathematics 45
Total: 150
If a candidate answers all the 150 questions (without skipping any question), the candidate will have an option of attempting 12 (twelve) extra questions, if there is still time left.

Syllabus

The BITSAT-2009 test will be conducted on the basis of NCERT syllabus for 11th and 12th class.
For detailed syllabus check the brochure. A sample test will be made available to the registered candidates at the BITS website on which he/she can practice as many times as desired.

Application Forms

The candidates who are willing to give BITSAT-2009 can apply either online or get the form via post.To apply online visit here- http://bitsadmission.com/fd/fdmain.htm The fees for BITSAT 2009 is Rs 1000 (Rs. 500/- for female candidates). Details for payment of fees are available at the website while applying online.
Application form by can also be obtained by post from the Admissions Office, BITS, Pilani by
sending a request on plain paper giving the candidate’s name, and gender with complete postal
address, accompanied by a crossed demand draft for Rs. 1100/- (Rs. 600/- for Female candidates).

Qualification for BE

The candidate should be pass in 12th grade ,A Level, IB,American 12th grade or equivalent with physics,Mathematics and English with chemistry or biotechnology or computer science or biology or statistics or engineering drawing as optional subjects for admission to BE and a minimum marks of 50% in Physics,Mathematics and any one of the optional subjects.

Admissions

Admissions are done on the basis of rank in all India EPSI National admission Test(ENAT 09).The test duration is of 2.30 hours and consists of 240 multiple choice questions(MCQ) of the objective type.The approximate distribution of questions is as follows: Physics- 60 questions, Chemistry- 60 questions, Mathematics- 80 questions,English & General aptitude –40 questions. Each question carries one mark and their is no negative marking and above all the score would be flashed as soon as you finish the exam.

The test is an online test that goes for about a month,where the students have to choose the date for the examination beforehand

Application Form

Candidates are required to send the FORM which can be filled online here or can be brought from the AXIS bank and SBI bank branches (Take a look for the bank branches here-) + DD/Challan for Rs 1000 drawn on ‘Manipal University’ payable at Manipal or Udupi on or before 2nd March, 2009

The candidates have to select the date for the examination. Candidates applying for BE can choose the slots from 10th March to 19th March 2009 here

Scholarships

Candidates applying for BE course and within the first 1000 ranks of the respective merit list are offered 100% freeship. Such freeships are limited and the numbers will be as decided by the University. The freeship will cover only the course fee payable for the particular course of study. The candidate will however be required to pay the registration fee and caution deposit payable at the time of admission. The freeship will not cover the expenses such as hostel accommodation, books etc.

Tips for the examination

The exam is overall simple with basic questions,the requirement is speed,I too have given the examination and my rank was 250 and my marks was 160/240.As their is no negative marking try to attempt all the questions and remain calm during the examination.Also try to take a date for the examination just after the AIEEE,it would help you a lot.

Their are many other courses provided by the Manipal university though here I have covered only about BE for other courses take a look at the site or in the prospectus

I may have missed many things in this post so try to go through the prospectus and also take a look at the site here .If you have any queries just reply to the post and I would try to solve it.

The complete information has been made available about AIEEE 2009 along with the release of the information brochure.As mentioned earlier the AIEEE 2009 is going to be held on 26th April 2009.

The cost of Information Bulletin inclusive of examination and counseling fee for BE/B.Tech only or B.Arch/B.Planning only is Rs. 450/- for General and OBC candidates and Rs. 225/- for SC/ST candidates. Candidates appearing for both BE/B.Tech and B.Arch/B.Planning together should send their application form along with additional fee in the form of Demand Draft of Rs. 300/- for General & OBC candidates and Rs. 150/- for SC/ST candidates

Eligibility for AIEEE 2009

The number of attempts which a candidate can avail at All India Engineering /Architecture Entrance Examination shall be limited to 03 (three) uniformly for all the candidates in consecutive years. The candidates passed +2 exam in 2007, 2008 or appearing in +2 in 2009 are only eligible to appear in AIEEE-2009. AIEEE 2009 application forms and other info!!

The eighth all India Engineering Entrance Examination for admissions in B.E/B.Tech and B.Arch/B. Planning in various national level institutes like NIT’s,IIIT’s,Deemed Universities and government funded institutions and States like Haryana and Uttaranchal will be held on 26th April,2009 all over India and abroad. This examination will be held in two parts viz B.E./B.Tech from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and for B.Arch./B. Planning from 1400 hrs to 1700 hrs.

The sale of the application forms from the identified branches of the Syndicate Banks all over India,identified institutions and Regional Offices of CBSE will be started from 5th December, 2008 to 5th January,2009.

The last date for submission of application form in the Board office is 10th January,2009 till 5:00 P.M

Reservation in IIT JEE 2009

OBC Candidates

For OBC candidates belonging to Non-creamy layer, 18% of total number of seats are reserved in each of the older IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee), IT-BHU, Varanasi and ISMU, Dhanbad and 27% of total number of seats are reserved in each of the new IITs (Bhubaneswar, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Patna, Punjab and Rajasthan).

SC/ST Candidates

For candidates belonging to the SC and ST categories, respectively 15% and 7.5% of the total number of seats are reserved in each IIT, IT-BHU, Varanasi and ISMU, Dhanbad. Candidates belonging to these categories are admitted on the basis of a relaxed criterion as defined in Section 10.

Persons with Physical Disability (PD)

For PD (including leprosy-cured) candidates, who are otherwise fit to pursue the course, and qualify JEE (with relaxed norms defined in Section 10), 3% seats are reserved as specified by the Government of India.

PREFERENTIAL ALLOTMENT OF SEATS (DS Category)

Two seats are available for preferential allotment of courses in each institute for children of defence/paramilitary personnel killed or permanently disabled in action during war or peace-time operations (DS category).

AIPMT 2009 pattern of examination

I have personally received a lot of queries about the pattern of AIPMT 2009 mains,even in the comments on the previous post about AIPMT their has been lot of talk about the pattern of the examination.So inspite of all the buzz about the supreme court ruling and others the AIPMT mains would be subjective type this year.The pattern of AIPMT mains would be changed from AIPMT 2010.

Here is an official announcement from CBSE-

The Board is receiving a large number of queries from the candidates, whether the AIPMT (Final)-2009 examination would be subjective type of objective type? It is brought to the notice of all concerned that in the year 2009 there is no change in the pattern of AIPMT (Final) examination. Hence, the examination would be conducted in the following way :-

1. AIPMT (Preliminary) 2009 on 5th April, 2009 - OBJECTIVE TYPE

2. AIPMT (Final) 2009 on 10th May, 2009 - SUBJECTIVE TYPE

It is also brought to the notice that the pattern would be changed from AIPMT-2010 examination.
