The procedure for filling of seats in NIT’s has been changed as compared to the previous years.The seats in the NITs shall be filled up with following criteria:
- 50% of the seats in an NIT shall be filled by the eligible candidates who have passed +2 examination from the State in which the NIT is situated. For example, in NIT Agartala 50% seats shall be filled by the eligible candidates who have passed their +2 examination from Tripura.
- Admission in NITs for rest 50% seats would be on All India Merit basis. For these seats candidates would be admitted from amongst All India rank holders in AIEEE.

I got 16,900 AIR and 311 state rank from chandigarh. I belong to general category. Can I expect a seat in Thapar or PEC in 2nd or 3rd counselling???
definitely u’ll get seat but not in first councelling but be patient n wait coz most of the students leave thapar after 1st councelling
but branch might not be of ur choice

sir my aieee rank is 12400 my category rank is 10145 n chd rank is 246 overall n 230 open . can i get into pec in any branch except metallurgy
i have got in b.arch 15415 rank in air and 293 state rank jharkhand
My daughter got rank 7816 in AIEEE . During first round, she got NIT, Surat Civil Engg.
Are there any chances she would get through to Surathkal, Warangal or Trichy in Mech Engg, CS&E or E&C Engg during next rounds.
For that matter, How many places average would get slided up in next rounds ?
