The IIT JEE 2009 paper has just finished and I talked to few of my friends who had given the exam.The exam was bit simpler then the previous year. I would be posting full information about the paper after analysing it. I have just analysed the IIT JEE 2009 paper and found that the pattern of the paper was similar to the previous year.The first paper was simpler straightforward.The second paper was bit trickier as usual and was more subjective type.
The subject wise cutoff doesn’t matter much the subject wise cutoff previous year was 5 marks in Mathematics,0 marks in Physics and 3 marks in Chemistry . Individual subject cutoffs is determined on the basis that top 80% candidates qualify in each subject.
The expected cutoff for the last rank in IIT JEE would be somewhere around 170 to 175 as the paper seems to be bit simpler then the previous year.

marks will be given on iit-jee website in july/august
eml has no rank — it is EXTENDED Merit List, , comprising people who score less than the ones in CML

eml is total waste of time
i ask 160 peoples and 35 were in extended merit list
they were from delhi
considering other states i think at least 15000-20000 students are in eml
the number can go up to 30000
so dont be so excited if you are in eml
you need to give personal interview for admission in iist and iiser
iist is very good
but iiser’s are not that good
they offer 5 year ms course
if you are intreasted in pure sciences and have no wish to join pvt sector firm’s then go for iiser
otherwise wait for aieee result.
see if you can get admission in nit’s , dce , bits, bit.

As per the IIT website (http://www.jee.iitb.ac.in), approx. 1800 people are in EML. Preparatory courses are only for SC/ST/PD candidates. People who are saying EML is all non-sense are trying to misguide others. People who are in EML may also have a chance to join IIT/BHU/ISM provided some of them who are already in the common merit list drop out or choose the AIEEE colleges. Don’t loose hope. All the best.

the EML list will be 6 times the Common Merit List (CML) which means approx 60000 candidates in EML?!!
What is the logic in having such a long list, BTW?

i am also too confused with reference to eml list given by iitjee .i myself got a rank of E13000 and have also met a friend who have got a rank of E40000.this means that around 30000-35000 students and even more are there in the list.While the total number of seats available in iiser,ts-chanakya,rajiv gandhi college,etc. is around 1000-1500.
In my opinion ,its just a wastage of time,money and energy by applying for counselling .

iit is just playing a game,a joke with all of them who are been selected in eml.it is a new way of earning money by them(iit) by calling them for counselling.
I think you have a great chance of being selected.But they(iit) could also call you for preparatory courses if you belong to ST .
every one is telling that eml is bad dont go for it and much more but you should understand the iit management is not stupid they have increased number of extended merit list candidates because this time many private colleges are also giving admission through eml and at least you will get direct admission in any one of the good coaching institution. if you are in eml that means you are better than the students those who didn’t qualified even eml is not joke at least you have done something then only you are in eml. congrats to all who are in eml. prepare once more and you will get your name in merit list.

in my opinion there is only one thing good w.r.t eml list for ones who had their first attemp in jee this year and that is that they could get admission in good coaching institutions with a fee concetion of around 20%(in bansal) to 50% (in resonance)and also in some other coachings.
if your rank is more than E5000 then the admission in iisers is very-very difficult.
according to some of my friends(who have told me this evening) there are around 50,000 candidates in eml list that is every 1 out of 8 .
