IIT JEE 2009

The complete information has been made available.As mentioned in the previous post the IIT JEE 2009 would be held on 12th April 2009.The IIT JEE 2009 forms could be submitted both offline and online and the forms would be available from 19th Nov 2008.

The forms for IIT JEE 2009 would be available in the following banks-

IIT BOMBAY ZONE: CANARA BANK

IIT DELHI ZONE: UNION BANK OF INDIA

IIT Guwahati Zone: State Bank of India

IIT Kanpur Zone: State Bank of India

IIT KHARAGPUR ZONE: AXIS BANK

IIT Madras Zone : Canara Bank

IIT Roorkee Zone: Punjab National Bank

Reservation in IIT JEE 2009

OBC Candidates

For OBC candidates belonging to Non-creamy layer, 18% of total number of seats are reserved in each of the older IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee), IT-BHU, Varanasi and ISMU, Dhanbad and 27% of total number of seats are reserved in each of the new IITs (Bhubaneswar, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Patna, Punjab and Rajasthan).

SC/ST Candidates

For candidates belonging to the SC and ST categories, respectively 15% and 7.5% of the total number of seats are reserved in each IIT, IT-BHU, Varanasi and ISMU, Dhanbad. Candidates belonging to these categories are admitted on the basis of a relaxed criterion as defined in Section 10.

Persons with Physical Disability (PD)

For PD (including leprosy-cured) candidates, who are otherwise fit to pursue the course, and qualify JEE (with relaxed norms defined in Section 10), 3% seats are reserved as specified by the Government of India.

PREFERENTIAL ALLOTMENT OF SEATS (DS Category)

Two seats are available for preferential allotment of courses in each institute for children of defence/paramilitary personnel killed or permanently disabled in action during war or peace-time operations (DS category).

This time the IIT JEE examination is being set by IIT Guwahati

IIT JEE 2009 important dates and info

The information about IIT JEE 2009 has been published by  the respective IIT’s.The IIT JEE for 2009 would be held for 12th April 2009.

The JEE examination would be objective type as expected and would contain 2 papers of 3 hours each Paper-1 would be held from 9 AM to 12 noon and the Paper-2 would be held from 2 PM to 5 PM.Each paper would have separate sections for Physics,Chemistry and Mathematics and would be designed to test comprehension,reasoning and analytical ability of the candidates.

Currently the syllabus has not been made available on the IIT JEE sites,so you have to wait for a little more time.

The candidates would have the option of submitting the application form both offline and online.

This year the examination would be held for 12 IIT’s,IT-BHU Varanasi and ISMU Dhandbad.

Central Counselling for AIEEE 2008

The procedure for filling of seats in NIT’s has been changed as compared to the previous years.The seats in the NITs shall be filled up with following criteria:

  1. 50% of the seats in an NIT shall be filled by the eligible candidates who have passed +2 examination from the State in which the NIT is situated. For example, in NIT Agartala 50% seats shall be filled by the eligible candidates who have passed their +2 examination from Tripura.
  2. Admission in NITs for rest 50% seats would be on All India Merit basis. For these seats candidates would be admitted from amongst All India rank holders in AIEEE.
